WTF is Barack Obama?

THEN:

In September 2008, candidate Obama told a Pennsylvania crowd-

"I know that I'm not your typical presidential candidate and I just want to be honest with you. I know that the temptation is to say, 'You know what? The guy hasn't been there that long in Washington. You know, he's got a funny name. You know, we're not sure about him.' And that's what the Republicans when they say this isn't about issues, it's about personalities, what they're really saying is, 'We're going to try to scare people about Barack. So we're going to say that, you know, maybe he's got Muslim connections.'...Just making stuff up."

NOW:

During a conference call in preparation for President Obama's trip to Cairo, Egypt, where he will address the Muslim world, deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications Denis McDonough said-

"the President himself experienced Islam on three continents before he was able to -- or before he's been able to visit, really, the heart of the Islamic world -- you know, growing up in Indonesia, having a Muslim father -- obviously Muslim Americans (are) a key part of Illinois and Chicago."

WTF? 

The man is a living contradiction, because who he says he is, and who he is, are in such complete opposition. 

There is no black or white, there is no fact or fiction, it's all one big gray area, and that bothers me. 

Does he have Muslim connections, like his Security Advisor, Denis McDonough just said?

Because during the campaign, Obama accused the Republicans of trying to scare the American people by saying he "has Muslim connections". 

Well, slap my ass and call me Sally, because I'm confused.

Why would Obama try and distance himself from the "heart of the Islamic world" during his campaign? 

If Islam, and the Muslim community, were or are, part of Obama's life experiences, (like his Security Advisor, Denis McDonough just said they were) then why didn't he acknowledge it during his campaign?

I will be totally honest here, I don't know what bothers me more, the fact that he has these connections, or the fact that he lied about them for political gain. 

Just for shits and giggles I started Googling the words Muslim and Obama- pretty scary stuff comes up. 

I even found pictures of FLOTUS with Farrakhans wife- and that's legit people.
